When it comes to your future, it can sometimes seem like things can never come quickly enough. EMS and EMT courses are a way to get into the field a lot faster than you would have initially thought. You get the education you’re looking for at an accelerated rate. If you live in Virginia though, an accelerated emt VA course can be a double-edged sword, in that you are missing out on a lot of the real-life scenarios that most emts need in order to be prepared for the future they are looking towards. Some things that you need to get used to quickly are being on call 24 hours a day.
This may not be the case for some EMTs, but it can be the case for most. Problems come up for people at many different times of the day and they need someone there to help them no matter what the scenario is. Another thing that you need to get used to is the real-life scenario of helping someone who is seriously injured. If you’re taking a class, it can seem easy, but once you get out there, it’s a whole other experience.
