Under valves classified according to function, there are on and off shut valves (allow liquid flow by fully opening or closing), check valves (liquids in these valves flow in one direction only), and control valves, also known as pressure regulation valves (help control the flow of substances).
Under valves classified according to motion, there are linear motion valves (use multiple parts to control flow including diaphragms, gates, or globes), rotary motion valves (use multiple parts to control flow including ball, butterfly, and plug).
