In this video, you will learn about feed rates. Feed rates on the mill depend on a few factors. RPM is the actual RMP on the field. This is an important calculation to be made.
On manual machines, you will not be able to input this exact RPM. You can input the exact number on a spindle. Flutes are going to be the number of calculating edges. Then, chip loads are the amount of material each cutting edge removes. How many thousands of an inch thick do you want the chip load to be is this. The rule of thumb is that the maximum chip load is 1% of the cutter diameter. For smaller mills, you are going to want to cut that number in half so you don’t overload. If there are a lot of axis of motion, the machine itself is flexible it might not be able to handle this. It is important to do your research ahead of time to avoid making any damage to your machine. Take your time with this. If you are interested in learning more, keep watching this video for more information.
